She's a little West Indian girl . Although rooted in its territory, it makes it possible to offer role models to all little girls from immigrant backgrounds or belonging to communities for which identification materials are lacking.
Constantly confronted with otherness , she shows the importance of relationships with others : her encounters make her progress even as she improves the world she lives in.
From the magical tarantulas to the melodious blackbird passing by the selfish crab or the storytelling mongoose are the characters who accompany Cabosse on his return trip through the different forests of Martinique.
